I recently worked with a woman that lives thousands of miles away, but needed to have a VERY full house emptied in my town.  She had made several trips back and forth (how much did that cost?), and when in town had spent most of her time hauling bags of clothes to the Goodwill.  After doing that for two years ($600 a month for taxes, insurance, utilities, you do the math) she finally decided to contract with me to empty the house.  I was shocked to find that after she had hauled the clothes to the Goodwill (I could have sold them) she had spent time bundling all the empty hangers a dozen at a time, because “someone will want those” (they don’t).  During the time that the house sat empty one of the upstairs toilets had developed a leak around the base.  The repair bill for the damage caused was tens of thousands of dollars.
