Subject: Call Rich First
Recently a few of us pitched in to help a friend clean-out his deceased parent’s old house for an estate sale. Now as these things go, this house had a lot of accumulation, a lot of trash but also a lot of valuable items. We ordered a dumpster and started packing stuff out. As the dumpsters filled we were feeling pretty good about all the progress, and thought as soon as this house is properly cleaned out we should call Rich Old for advice on how to proceed with the sale. When the last of four dumpster loads were nearly full someone said, “Maybe we should call Rich now,” so we did, and within a half-hour he was on-site.
An examination of the dumpster did NOT seem to please Rich; in fact, it wasn’t long before we felt obligated to climb into the dumpster to fish out numerous items. And sure enough many of those found their way into the estate sale and sold. What’s more, we were not only losing sales, we were also paying to have salable items hauled off. I hate to think of what else we threw away in those first three dumpsters!
Once on board Rich gave superb advice for our estate sale set-up, pricing, advertising, logistics, and final clean-out. And because of that, even with the early missteps, we had a very successful sale.
So, if you want to get the most out of your estate sale, Call Rich first!
